The Seafood Import Monitoring Program with updates as of January 1, 2019

Approved for 2 CES/CCS/MES Credit

NOAA Fisheries, in collaboration with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, extended the period of “informed compliance” for submission of SIMP data for shrimp and abalone, from December 31, 2018 through April 1, 2019. The inclusion of shrimp – the largest US seafood import – and abalone in SIMP nearly doubles the volume and value of imported fish and fish products subject to its requirements, further leveling the playing field for U.S. fishermen, aquaculture producers, and seafood producers around the world who play by the rules. Mandatory compliance for the other species covered under SIMP began on January 1, 2018. By April 1, 2019 entries that do not comply with the mandatory SIMP message set requirements, including shrimp and abalone, will be refused entry.

This webinar will review the program to date and key on the common most mistakes and provides updates for codes and entry details.
